  The Lydian Studio of Music is a home-based studio in North Calgary that has been in operation for 19 years. We have grown through the years to offer many disciplines and yes we are currently accepting new students.   I attained my B. Mus from the University of Victoria and have studied pedagogy from the Suzuki Association of Americas completing all my training from Early Childhood to book 10. I am classically trained and have studied with a variety of musicians worldwide. My teaching style is a blend between Suzuki and Traditional methods and I offer lessons that are tailored to the individual needs/wants of each student. Attention to technical components and musicality provides students with the tools necessary to do what they wish with their instrument.
  
  In an effort to enhance the education my students receive, I have started a new program for this September called Apollo’s Disciples - This is a new concept string orchestra/ensemble that injects modern well-known film, rock and pop songs into the playing experience. We offer fun weekly rehearsals utilizing well-known hit songs with original arrangements. You must be currently enrolled in private lessons (any studio), have been playing for at least three years, and love pop/film music - then this might be a program for you!
  
  My daughter began cello lessons with Christine Williams 5 years ago and although we drove 1 hour each way to get there we considered the effort well worth it. The only thing that outweighs Christine's extensive training and knowledge is her enthusiasm for teaching and a genuine love of music. Lessons are done in a relaxed environment but with an intensity not often seen (I have three other children who have been taking piano and violin. They have seen a variety of teachers. Christine's instruction is second to none!) Although my daughter was busy during high school with sports and music, Christine worked patiently with us to accommodate her schedule. My daughter has just begun University and continues her lessons because both Christine and the cello are now an important part of her life. She leaves each lesson rejuvenated and inspired. We have never posted a review before but compelled to do so now so that everyone knows what a top quality teacher and school of Music this is. Your kids will

  The Home School Band program is tailored to home school students in Calgary and area. The three bands perform regularly, and are made up of players of all levels. Parents are welcome to participate and learn alongside their children, at no extra charge. Students move through the Beginner, Intermediate, and Senior Bands at their own rate. Students will learn the instrument of their choice. No previous experience is necessary. Recommended age for Beginner Band is age 9 and up. Students in the Senior Band are welcome to learn a second instrument in the Beginner Band at no extra charge.

I have been playing fiddle for over 30 years and travelled the world extensively bringing music to the masses, and was nominated for fiddle player of the year by the Canadian Country Music Awards. I have been trained classically as well as trained in the Texas style of contest fiddle. My love of fiddle music led me to a group called Barrage, in which I performed and toured with for 5 years, and introduced me to many other styles of fiddle music. I teach the very young to the very old alike. I have taught students as young as 3 and as old as 85. Although most of my students will work their way up to the Royal Conservatory program, my goal is to develop a well-rounded pianist, capable of playing many styles of music. I have an extensive library of music which my students can borrow from. Those of my students who wish to can participate in RCM exams, the Olds Music Festival, and the Calgary Music Festival.
